Watashi wa hidoi geri desu

If you didn’t know, everyone in Japan has to learn english. Now that doesn’t mean they speak it very well at all. As a matter of fact, I’m sure everyone has heard of the “engrish” that is spoken by a lot of japanese, where they mispeak a lot of words.

Well, here’s a part of an instructional video, and perhaps you’ll see why it’s like that. Video after the bump.

Oh that Magibon… who?

If you haven’t been a regular on youtube, you probably wouldn’t know who Magibon is. Since most of this audience probably doesn’t know, Magibon is a youtube celebrity, and very popular (for some odd reason) on Youtube. You’re probably wondering what kind of videos she must have on youtube, right? Well, many of her videos (or rather most) consist of her just staring at the screen. That’s right true believers, she doesn’t do a damn thing except stare! You might be wondering why this is so popular! Does she flash her boobs, does she do anything? No. No she does not.

I will admit that not all her videos are just staring at the screen. She does have a few where she does something. But that’s not how she gained her popularity, oddly enough.

I think that the perverted Japanese men made her popular because they really like looking at her. I admit that she is cute, but come on. There is a limit to it. I mean most of her videos aren’t even over a minute long. While I congratulate her on her genius of this, there has to be more to it. But feeding on the perverted nature of the Japanese man, genius…and kinda creepy. At least she doesn’t have a live webcam. (that I know of!) because that would be even more creepier. Video after the bump…

μTRON Keyboard: because typing wasn’t hard enough

utronkb

μTRON Keyboard

Are you a hunt and peck typist?  Then you should probably stop reading right now.

The μTRON Keyboard is supposed to make typing easier, by placing the most-used keys in the center of the keyboard for easy access with the index finder and thumb.

According to their website, the symmetrical key layout is tailored to the the natural movement of the hand…of course, the footnote states that it may take some time to get used to the new layout.

You can’t buy it online yet, but the SRP is $530 (USD) and you can inquire about it here.

Tuttuki Bako – put those fingers to work

What’s better than having a normal alarm clock? Having one that you can stick your finger into to play games! Seriously.

tuttuki

The Tuttuki Bako comes in 3 colors: red, black, and green. When you stick your finger into the hole on the side, it displays on screen. There are 5 “stages” in the game, Panda (flick the panda on the swing), Ameba (or amoeba, play with a gelatinous blob), Face (pick its nose until it sneezes), Sea (poke at a shell until an octopus sprays ink on you), and Figure (flick a karate stickman offscreen).

Over the river and through…the Gate Tower Building

This isn’t exactly new…in fact, the Gate Tower Building was built in 1992.  But what makes this 16-floor building unique is the highway exit that cuts through floors 5-7 of the building.

Happy Thanksgiving

1106455_33804700Although traditionally, Thanksgiving is not celebrated in Japan, how much you wanna bet that somewhere they are celebrating it, only because it’s an American holiday? Some Japanese people are weird. I should know, I’m one of them. Japanese that is. (Not necessarily weird. Although she might argue with you a little bit.)

Anyways, this is the obligatory Happy Thanksgiving post since I believe that most of our readers are American anyways.

I leave you with a youtube video of what to do if you’re American and have thanksgiving in Japan. I have to admit that it’s pretty informative (LOL). Video after the bump.

Cosplay – it’s not about halloween

Rikku - Cosplay from Final Fantasy X-2

Rikku - Cosplay from Final Fantasy X-2

One of the things that have always fascinated and freaked me out about Japanese culture has got to be Cosplay. If you’ve been under a rock for the past ten years or just don’t get out much, Cosplay is basically dressing up like your favorite anime character. Many cosplayers will probably hate that definition but it’s pretty much true. Let’s not deny it. While I’m freaked out about it, I’m really fascinated too, because I love Japanese anime, and well, if people are gonna dress up like some of the characters in my favorite animes, I might think it’s pretty damn cool.

People spend a lot of time working on their costumes and outfits. And it’s not even about halloween! You don’t wear these outfits to a halloween party. These even may be the way that the people dress up in everyday life. Now seriously, I really find this crazy and alluring. But honestly, you’ll never catch me in a Gundam uniform. Ever. Seriously.

Kami Kami Sensor (bite counter)

kamikami01A pedometer for your mouth.

The Kami Kami Sensor hooks over the ears, with sensors at the jaw and below the chin – its sole purpose: to count the number of bites you take.

Chew you food…and we’ll play you a song

After 30 bites, it beeps. After 1000 bites, it plays a song (“pleasant melody”).

According to the Nitto Kagaku Co, creators of the kami-sensor, the more soft foods (like ramen) children eat, the less likely they are to chew properly, and the more likely to suffer from “sudden gas”.
